An Integrated Systems Engineering Methodology for Analyzing Systems of Systems Architectures

In this exploratory work, an integrated systems engineering methodology for analyzing architectures of systems of systems (SoS) involves linking an SoS architecture development process to the DoDAF products, using the systems modeling language (SySML 1.0) to represent DoDAF products, and hence to model the SoS architecture, and linking the SysML diagrams with the SoS architecture development process via executable object-oriented simulation models. In this paper we will explain the methodology and apply it to analysis of an integrated U.S.−Singapore SoS architecture that is network-centric operations warfare compliant employed to counter terrorism emanating from the maritime domain.
